BOWIE, Md. — The Tire Industry Association (TIA) has published the eligibility requirements and the nomination process for its newly announced Marvin Bozarth ETS Technician of the Year Award.
TIA announced the creation of the award, which recognizes the top OTR technician in the industry, at the 2024 OTR Tire Conference. It's named in honor of Bozarth, a "revered figure in the OTR tire and retread industries and a passionate advocate for tire service technician education."
To qualify for the award, a technician:
- Must be an employee of a TIA member in good standing;
- Must have completed a minimum of the Basic CTS and Basic ETS programs;
- Must have at least three years of experience as an OTR technician; and
- Must be available to attend the 2025 OTR Tire Conference.
Companies may nominate one tech each. The nomination must include:
- A letter of recommendation from a store manager, assistant manager, service manager or safety personnel;
- A letter of recommendation from at least one salesperson and one customer; and
- Photos of the service truck and/or tool compartments.
The winner will receive an all-expenses-paid trip — including airfare, hotel accommodations, airport to hotel transfers and complimentary conference registration that includes meals and one leisure activity — for him/herself and a guest to the 2025 OTR Tire Conference in Puerto Rico.
The nomination form will be available on July 1 at the award website: Marvin Bozarth ETS Technician of the Year – Tire Industry Association.
