BOWIE, Md. — The Tire Industry Association (TIA) is expanding the number of training classes it offers in Spanish, starting with a virtual Certified Commercial Tire Service (CTS) training class on Feb. 16-17.
The Level 300 CTS class will take place via Zoom video, running from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on those two days. Students will have to successfully complete a final exam and show proficiency in the shop by demonstrating various skills, TIA said.
"The addition of this class addresses the coast-to-coast need for commercial tire and wheel service training in Spanish," TIA President Dan Nothdurft said. "We are fortunate to have a bilingual instructor, Jose Moreno, on staff who is fluent in Spanish."
The training program is for experienced employees and takes place via video conferencing. Work will cover 18 modules, including OSHA requirements and single-piece and multi-piece rim demounting and mounting and nail hole repair.
Students who pass the course will receive a certificate, 13 uniform patches and a two-year subscription to TIA's bi-monthly publication, Commercial Tire Service Today.
The training will include live presentations over Zoom as well as videos and images from TIA's Certified Commercial Tire Service program.
