JUPITER, Fla. — Tire Group International L.L.C.'s Cosmo brand has struck a deal with Palm Beach International Raceway for naming rights to the Jupiter-based raceway's autocross track and sponsorship of the track's Autocross League Championship Series.
Cosmo is a longtime TGI brand that the Miami-based wholesale distributor repurposed in 2019 to include UHP, SUV, SUV-UHP and M/T patterns ahead of launching it in the U.S.
As part of the brand's launch in the U.S., TGI began searching out motorsports sponsorship opportunities, such as drift drivers, endurance racing and other automotive events. The company describes this new initiative an "exciting expansion and an opportunity" for Cosmo Tires to support automotive enthusiasts.
"Cosmo is about performance, innovation and value," TGI/Cosmo Tires President Joaquin Gonzalez said. "Just as autocross is about getting the most out of your car, Cosmo is about getting the most out of our tires. We look forward to seeing competitors and Cosmo Tires on our track throughout the year!"
Autocross is a timed event, where participants compete for the best time around a small, technical track. Drivers and cars are broken down into classes by engine type to provide more even competition.
As an added bonus, Cosmo Tires will offer cash prizes for the "Fastest Kats," the drivers with the quickest and second-quickest times on Cosmo-brand tires at every autocross event throughout the year.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
PBIR is a motorsports complex featuring a quarter-mile drag strip, a 2-mile, 10-turn road course, 7/10-mile kart track as well as mud racing tracks.
