FRIONA, Texas — King Country Trailer & Service, an Amarillo, Texas-based trucking services enterprise, ventured into retreading last year, opening a Marangoni Ringtread-process plant in western Texas under the name King Country Retread to service customers throughout Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico.
King Country Trailer set up a "state-of-the-art" retread plant at an existing facility in Friona — a town of about 4,000 about 70 miles southwest of Amarillo and 20 miles east of the New Mexico state line — with a rated capacity of over 30,000 retreads a year.
Mike King, president of King Country Retreading and managing partner at King Country Trailer, said profitability and the "ability to be an independent retreader with control over our future" were among the key reasons his company decided to opt for the Marangoni Ringtread process.
Besides retreading, the new business will offer complete tire service — mounting/dismounting and balancing — casing asset management, fleet reporting, mounted wheel program, drive-through service bays and full road service.
King Country Trailer, which handles Sumitomo-brand new truck tires through its locations, is the 28th company in North America with Ringtread capacity.
