PHOENIX — Sun Auto Tire & Service Inc. is expanding into the Pacific Northwest with the acquisitions of a pair of auto repair businesses in the Seattle market and another in Vancouver, Wash., serving the Portland, Ore., area.
The businesses being acquired — Greg's Japanese Auto and Jeff's Auto Repair in the Seattle market and Gaynors Automotive in Vancouver — together operate 16 stores.
The deals expand Sun Auto Tire's operations to 230 tire and service locations throughout seven states: Arizona, California, Nevada, Oklahoma, Texas, Virgina and Washington.
Financial terms of the deals were not disclosed.
Greg's Japanese Auto, founded in 1987 and owned by Greg and David Huntley, operates eight stores in Washington, with a total of 90 bays, in Bellevue, Covington, Federal Way, Lynnwood, Puyallup, Renton, Seattle and Southcenter.
Jeff Gietzen, who started Jeff's Auto Repair in 1980, operated three stores in Washington, with a total of 34 bays, in Lynnwood, Renton and Sandpoint.
Gaynors Automotive operates five stores for a total of 36 bays in Cascade Park, Hazel Dell, Orchards, Salmon Creek and downtown Vancouver, Wash.
"At Sun Auto Tire & Service, one of the many ways we define our success is by creating acquisition opportunities in which we feel we can partner with trusted brands and capitalize on established and successful footprints in multiple markets," Sun Auto CEO Tony Puckett said.
"Earlier this year, we expanded our portfolio to include the East Coast, and naturally, the next step in our expansion journey is the Pacific Northwest.
"The strong community relationships Greg's, Jeff's and Gaynors have cultivated will further strengthen our growth strategy and help cement Sun Auto Tire & Service as Washington's leading provider of quality aftermarket automotive repair."
Phoenix-based Sun Auto Tire is the seventh largest independent tire dealership in the U.S., based on company-owned stores, according to recently published Tire Business rankings.
