COLUMBUS, Ohio — Sun Auto Tire & Service Inc. has extended its reach to the Buckeye State.
The Phoenix-based dealership has acquired family-owned Boyd's Tire & Service, which operates seven retail tire and auto service locations in central Ohio. It marks Sun Auto's first locations in Ohio.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Sun Auto said the acquisition reinforces its "dedication to excellence" and its "values-centered approach to its growing national footprint."
Boyd's Tire, established in 1996 and formerly owned by Keith Boyd, has two locations in Westerville, and one shop each in Columbus, Hilliard, Lewis Center, Blacklick and Marysville.
"Boyd's being welcomed into the Sun Auto family is a milestone in our growth journey," Sun Auto CEO Tony Puckett said. "We are thrilled to make our first entrance into Ohio, which is a region that is going to be very important to our plans going forward. I can't wait to welcome these new members of the Sun Team into our group."
Sun Auto said they will continue to evaluate whether to rebrand the locations.
"Boyd's has a strong relationship with their community, and it's a brand we are proud of," Sun Auto told Tire Business. "As we continue to expand aggressively throughout Ohio and the Midwest, we will continue to evaluate our long-term branding perspective."
Sun Auto said Boyd's Tire has a reputation for its exceptional facilities, tire and service offerings and focus on customer satisfaction, which "align perfectly with Sun Auto's philosophy and track record."
All 60 of Boyd's employees will join the Sun Auto team.

Late last year, Sun Auto Tire opened five Sun Auto-branded retail locations in the Houston market.
Sun Auto Tire has 446 stores and warehouses in 22 states, including sites east of Ohio, including Hogan & Sons in northern Virginia and Tire Outlet in the Jacksonville, Fla., area.
