    Buddy Hayden

NORWELL, Mass. — Sullivan Tire & Auto Service recently honored its newest ASE World Class Technicians — Alfred "Buddy" Hayden and Nick Rose — the 14th and 15th mechanics at Sullivan to achieve that status.

There are an estimated 879,000 technicians in the U.S., with about 250,000 holding ASE certification from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). More than 2,000 technicians have earned the respected status of "World Class Technician" since its inception over 30 years ago, according to ASE.

Sullivan Tire has 15 World Class Technicians, 146 Master technicians and 235 ASE-certified technicians. The certification covers 22 areas of specialty.

Mr. Hayden, who has been with Sullivan Tire for more than 10 years, is production manager and site safety representative at the dealership's Boston location.

"Becoming an ASE World Class Technician took a lot of hard work. It really pushed me out of my comfort zone and required me to learn things that I've never been exposed to before in the automotive industry," Mr. Hayden said.

"I take a lot of pride in becoming an ASE World Class Technician. It took many hours of study and dedication to earn. In the technician world, this title is a true representation of what we do, and I'm honored to have achieved it."

    Nick Rose

Mr. Rose, production manager at Sullivan Tire's Sandwich, Mass., location, has earned Master Tech, L1 certification and then the World Class Tech designation. Mr. Rose educates himself regularly on the maintenance and functionality of new cars and shares his knowledge with his peers, Sullivan Tire said.

Sullivan Tire said it encourages and supports all employees in furthering their automotive training and education, including covering the costs of ASE certifications.

Norwell-based Sullivan Tire has 73 retail locations, 15 commercial truck centers, 14 wholesale satellite locations, two retread plants, two LiftWorks facilities and two distribution centers.
