AKRON — Smithers Group is planning to host a webinar series on green tire chemistry, starting Jan. 19 with "The Green Tire 101: Performance Materials" and including two more sesssins in February and March.
Christine Domer, general manager of Smithers' Akron laboratories and tire services, and independent rubber industry consultant Walter Waddell will kick host the Jan. 19 webinar, which is scheduled to start at 11 a.m. EST.
Ms. Domer and Mr. Waddell will cover green tire development work from the early 1990s to the present day, reviewing initial patent work, the "magic triangle," tire labeling, and other important factors in the history of the green tire.
They also will review the importance of silica technology in green tire development and discuss other performance-enhancing materials that have impacted tire tread performance, including elastomers, process oils, performance resins, and organisilanes.
