WASHINGTON, D.C. — Legislation to protect the right to convert street vehicles into dedicated racecars — known as the RPM Act— is "well positioned" to become law in 2020 now that new versions of the bill have been introduced in Congress, according to the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA).
U.S. Representatives Patrick McHenry, R-N.C., and Raul Ruiz, D-Calif., introduced H.R. 5434, the Recognizing the Protection of Motorsports Act of 2019, this week, SEMA said, complementing the Senate's version of the bill, S. 2602, introduced in October by Senators Richard Burr, R.-N.C., and Joe Manchin, D-W.Va.
The House version has 28 bipartisan cosponsors.
