HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — Off-road racer Jim Horne has joined Team Hercules, the racing team of the Hercules Tire & Rubber Co., and plans to compete this year on Hercules' Terra Trac M/T premium mud-terrain all-season tire in various off-road competitions.
Owner and operator of High Desert 4 Wheel Drive, Horne expands the Hercules brand to off-road racing fans, according to the American Tire Distributors Inc. subsidiary.
The driver will debut with Hercules in the Desert Challenge at the King of the Hammers on Feb. 4 and 5 in Johnson Valley, Calif. He will be racing on Hercules' premium Terra Trac M/T.
Hercules Tire President Josh Simpson said Horne "will represent the brand and showcase the performance and power of our tires. Jim is an experienced and decorated off-road racer, and his expertise makes him the perfect addition to our team."
Horne will be racing on the same tires that consumers may buy, Simpson said, making that " a true testament to our mantra — Ride on Our Strength."
Hercules said it will continue to increase brand awareness through sponsorships, events, digital marketing and social media.
Horne joins sprint car driver Greg Wilson and professional fishermen Josh Douglas and Josh Bertrand as members of Team Hercules, representing the brand as ambassadors throughout the year and attending dealer and consumer events.
Horne won the Laughlin Desert Classic 2022, an off-road racing event held in Laughlin, Nev. He also competed in the World Extreme Rock Crawling Championship series and the Ultra4 Western unlimited series.
A resident of Moab, Utah, Horne said he is proud to be part of the team.
"The company produces high-quality off-road tires that will help me compete at the highest level in my upcoming races," he said.
