TRAVERSE CITY, Mich — International tire distributor Omni United (S) Pte. Ltd. is reprising its "Birdies for BCRF" initiative to support breast cancer research, with professional golfer and Radar Tires brand ambassador Jodi Ewart Shadoff playing a central role again.
Through the program, Ms. Ewart Shadoff will donate $100 to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation for every birdie she makes in her tournaments during October — Breast Cancer Awareness month — and Omni United/Radar will match that, the Singapore-based cmpany said.
The Birdies for BCRF donations are in addition to Omni United's minimum pledge amount for 2020, the amount to pay for a minimum of 1,000 hours of breast cancer research this year.
"I am once again proud to be joining my efforts with Radar Tires in supporting and advancing the mission of BCRF," said Ms. Ewart Shadoff, who pledged to carry a pink golf bag and gear as a "symbol of hope and courage in honor of the breast cancer community.
"I hope to get as many birdies as possible so we can collectively donate more money to fund lifesaving breast cancer research. I have always been impressed with the brands's approach of making the tire world more accessible and exciting for women drivers."
The program is run through BCRF's partner organization, Play for P.I.N.K., a grassroots organization dedicated to raising funds for breast cancer research through sporting and lifestyle events, donating 100% of all proceeds to its sole beneficiary, the BCRF.
The Play for P.I.N.K. initiative has raised more than $62 million to date and encompasses 300 tournaments across 30 states, with more than 30,000 golfers. The group supports 23 scientists at academic medical institutions around the world.
GS Sareen, founder and CEO, Omni United, said his company has supported breast cancer for nearly a decade. He said Omni has partnered with BCRF because it "always believed in giving back to our communities. Despite the pandemic taking center stage and impacting us in different ways, we have been and we remain committed to supporting our long term partner, BCRF, in their mission of preventing and curing breast cancer by advancing the world's most promising research."
Omni United and Radar Tires started supporting the BCRF in 2011. They have funded thousands of hours of lifesaving research while creating awareness of the cause.
Engagement with dealers will occur at the local level to raise additional funds with in-store displays and other material to attract customers' attention.
Ms. Ewart Shadoff, currently ranked 65th among LPGA golfers, became the brand ambassador in 2016, pledging her support for the BCRF by wearing pink gear as a symbol of hope and courage. She has several top-10 finishes on the LPGA Tour and played in the Solheim Cup in 2013, 2017 and 2019.
She can be seen at three tournaments in October:

- Oct. 8-11, KPMG Women's PGA Championship, Newtown Square, Pa.; and
- Oct. 22-25, LPGA Drive On Championship, Reynolds Lake Oconee, Greensboro, Ga.
