ROME, Ga. — Prometeon Tyre Group Commercial Solutions L.L.C. is rolling out a Tier 2 truck tire brand, "Nextroad," dedicated to regional market applications.
The Nextroad brand is available in the U.S. and Canada in two sizes initially— 295/75R22.5 and 11R22.5 — with an 11R24.5 available in early 2020, Prometeon said, and is meant to complement its premium Pirelli brand.
Featuring open-shoulder drive- and steer-axle applications, the new range is designed to address various vocational segments, Prometeon said, while offering high mileage, "outstanding" traction in all weather conditions and "excellent" retreadability.
"Nextroad is the latest addition to our product strategy developed for the North American market, delivering operational savings and great value to small fleets and owner/operators," Marco Verzino, vice president, technical, product management and OE North America, said.
The introduction of the Nextroad brand is the first step in Prometeon's multi-tier product strategy designed to provide customers with an "ever-increasing, comprehensive product offering," according to Aleksandar Gramatikov, CEO North America for Prometeon, the former commercial/industrial tire activities of Pirelli & C. S.p.A.
Prometeon did not disclose pricing information for the Nextroad product range, which it's building at its plant in Santo Andre, Brazil.
The debut of the Nextroad brand follows by a few months the launch by Prometeon of a Pirelli-brand regional-application truck tire series, the R89 series, designed specifically for North American conditions and available in drive- (open- and closed-shoulder) and steer-axle applications.
Prometeon also has Tier 3 brand, Anteo, that debuted in Europe earlier in 2019 but which isn't scheduled for distribution in North America until late 2020.
