INDIANAPOLIS — In the wake of having to cancel the 2020 PRI Trade Show, the staff of Performance Racing Industry (PRI) is planning a cross-country road show that will gather and share news and updates from dozens of racing-related businesses.
"If the industry can't come to the PRI Trade Show in Indianapolis, then PRI is coming to the industry," PRI President Jamie Meyer said.
The PRI Road Tour will visit 85-plus motorsports businesses and facilities over nine weeks with a goal of helping manufacturers promote their products and services and connect the worldwide racing industry. The tour will start Oct. 10 in Indianapolis and wrap up Dec. 15 in Los Angeles.
The PRI canceled the 2020 PRI Trade Show — which was scheduled for Dec. 10-12 — on Sept. 15 due to the "mounting uncertainty related to the coronavirus," which resulted in an environment that would not have been conducive to a productive trade show.
PRI describes the tour as an "all-out content-creation bonanza" that will put the PRI team in touch with manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, race teams, race tracks and more.
PRI, a Specialty Equipment Market Association business unit, has set up a specially equipped Mercedes Sprinter van wrapped with the PRI logo for the staff to use to conduct on-site interviews and curate content to share on PRI's website and social platforms, as well as within its monthly magazine.
PRI also is partnering with various media outlets, racers, influencers and social media channels to amplify the news and information it gathers further.
"The business of racing starts at PRI," Mr. Meyer said, "and our goal is to support the motorsports industry by helping them spread the word about what they are doing. We've tapped into the world's best photographers, videographers and social-media experts to develop content that will resonate with the racing world."
