GREEN BAY, Wis. — Pomp's Tire Service Inc. has acquired Dale's Tire & Retreading Inc. of Rapid City, S.D., in a deal that will three stores and one retread plant to Pomp's network.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Dale's Tire was owned by the Rovere family.
Dale's Tire management has agreed to continue working for the business under Pomp's Tire ownership, according to Paul Wochinske, president of Green Bay-based Pomp's Tire.
Founded in 1962 by Dale Rovere, Dale's Tire has two stores in Rapid City, S.D., and one in Scottsbluff, Neb. Pomp's has three of its own stores in South Dakota — in Aberdeen, Sioux Falls and Watertown — but this will expand the dealership's territory to the western part of the state.
The same applies to Nebraska, where Pomp's have five locations in eastern Nebraska. Scottsbluff is in the far western part of the state.
Dale's retread plant is a Bandag system facility, making it a good fit with Pomp's, which also is a Bandag system retreader.
The companies had been in discussions for some time, Wochinske said. Dale R. (Rusty) Rovere, son of company founder Dale Rovere, died last September at age 72.
Pomp's is considered the third or fourth largest commercial dealership in the U.S., with 2021 sales of $550 million. It also is among the five largest truck tire retreaders in the U.S., according to Tire Business research.
