MILAN, Italy — Formula 1 drivers who make the podium this season will wear special-edition Pirelli baseball-style caps designed by Croatian footwear designer Denis Dekovic.
The caps will pay tribute at 14 of the 24 Grand Prix events scheduled this year and are part of Dekovic's collaboration with Pirelli Design on a collection that blends the company's "high-performance heritage with bold and modern design," according to the Italian tire maker.
The caps will be featured at this season's first three events — in Australia, China and Japan — but the tire maker did not say which other events will get the bespoke caps or what the caps at the other 10 events will look like.
Fans will be able to buy the podium caps, along with exclusive lifestyle items from Dekovic and Pirelli Design in selected premium retail stores worldwide and at store.pirelli.com during the coming months.
The special edition podium caps highlight the colors, culture and heritage of host countries and "combine quality materials, premium craftsmanship and bold aesthetics, ensuring they are as striking as they are collectible," according to Pirelli.
The Australian Grand Prix cap already is for sale online, and the Chinese Grand Prix and Japanese Grand Prix caps are available for preorder.
Throughout the year, Dekovic and Pirelli Design will unveil Capsule Collections — lineups of premium apparel and accessories "inspired by Pirelli's passion for speed and technological innovation" that "merge motorsport aesthetics with cutting-edge materials and contemporary design," according to Pirelli.
For more than 30 years, Dekovic has collaborated with brands such as Nike, Adidas and Fila to produce trendsetting and iconic products and collections.
"With Denis Dekovic, we're fusing our passion for performance with a bold, design-forward approach to lifestyle," Marco Maria Tronchetti Provera, senior vice president, Pirelli Design & Assets Conversion, said.
"Every stitch, every material and every detail in this collection reflects Pirelli's relentless pursuit of innovation and excellence."
Milan-based Pirelli has been involved in racing since 1907 and has been the global tire partner of the Formula 1 World Championship since 2011.
Dekovic said Pirelli's legacy is built on innovation, precision and pushing boundaries.
"Collaborating with Pirelli means blending speed with storytelling, channeling that relentless drive into pieces that honor motorsport heritage while embracing a bold, modern vision," he said.
"Every detail in this collection reflects the passion, performance and fearless creativity that define both racing and design at the highest level."
