RICHFIELD, Ohio — Nexen Tire America Inc. will be the exclusive tire partner of the MLB's San Diego Padres for the 2024-27 seasons.
Nexen Tire and the Padres, which play in the National League West Division, announced the deal April 2. It will include a variety of marketing assets including digitally enhanced billboards, in-ballpark branding and mound signage at the Padres' Petco Park.
"We are thrilled to embark on this partnership with the San Diego Padres," Nexen Tire America CEO Brian Yoonseok Han said. "This is a very exciting milestone for Nexen Tire as we look forward to unlocking new levels of sports marketing experience.
"We are excited to engage with the community and the team's devoted fan base."
In 2023, the Padres had the second-highest attendance in the MLB, Nexen said.
"Following a successful and riveting Seoul Series where the Padres competed in the first-ever Major League Baseball regular season games in Korea, we are proud to partner with Nexen Tire as our exclusive tire partner," Padres CEO Erik Greupner said.
"Forging global partnerships with elite brands is a vital part of our business, and we are delighted to join the Padres and Nexen Tire brands, which both stand for excellence."
The deal brings Nexen and the MLB back together after a several-year hiatus. Starting in 2013, Nexen was engaged in marketing partnerships with as many as four MLB teams, including the Los Angeles Angels and Dodgers, Detroit Tigers and Texas Rangers.
Nexen also has partnerships with the NHL's New York Rangers, Anaheim Ducks and Chicago Blackhawks.
