    Nexen launched the Roadian ATX June 1.

    RICHFIELD, Ohio — Nexen Tire America Inc. has expanded its all-terrain tire lineup with the Roadian ATX.

    The tire — available in 63 sizes covering 15- to 22-inch rim diameters — is made with the latest material advancements designed for wet or dry grip, Nexen said.

    The Roadian ATX uses next-generation tread technology, designed to offer enhanced grip during the wear process, with sidewall lugs and deep grooves for improved handling and composure on and off-road, Nexen said.

    The tire offers increased performance in the areas of durability, wet traction, snow traction and mileage, compared with Nexen's earlier ATX tires, the company said.

    The tire also has a reinforced three-ply sidewall construction on most light truck sizes, giving an "industry-best all-terrain design for longer longer life and increased durability under heavy loads and higher tire pressures," Nexen said.

    Increased sidewall rigidity also makes for better vehicle stability while cornering and under heavy-towing scenarios.

    The tire features a dual-sidewall design that allows drivers the option to choose a dynamic-sidewall designs when installing, a feature that makes the tire "more aggressive" when compared to other A/T tires without increasing road noise.

    "There is a large segment of drivers who need an all-terrain tire that provides exceptional off-road capabilities without the aggressive nature of a mud-terrain tire and that became the driving force behind the Roadian ATX," Brian YoonSeok Han, CEO of -Nexen Tire America, said.

    "We designed an extremely capable all-terrain tire that can take drivers anywhere around the world and still retain the handling, quietness and comfort of an everyday on-road tire."

    The tire also is backed by a 65,000-mile treadwear mileage warranty, he said.

    Other features include:

    • Emerging 3D sipes increases tread-to-road contact for improved traction in snow, mud and wet conditions;
    • 3PMSF Certified – Severe-winter certification to withstand heavy snow, ice and tough terrain;
    • Speed rating S, T & H available/

    Roadian ATX all-terrain tires are available standard with Nexen Tire's total coverage warranty.

    The most popular styles became available from Nexen dealers nationwide June 1. Additional sizes will be available later this year.

    Pricing information was not disclosed.
