LONDON — Tire Business' sister publication European Rubber Journal plans to recognize technological achievement in tire industry automation and digitalization this summer with a new award, the Journey to Automation (J2A) award.
"With J2A, our goal is to highlight the great work going on around the digitalization of tire manufacture, design and supply," ERJ Editor Patrick Raleigh said.
"As well as recognizing the companies leading this transformation, we also aim to raise understanding of the pivotal role of IT-based technologies across all activities in an increasingly, interconnected tire world."
J2A Award nominations may be submitted individually or jointly as partners in a project for the following categories:
- Tire manufacturers, distributors, retailers;
- Automation vendors and suppliers of IT services to the tire industry;
- Suppliers of equipment and/or materials to the tire industry;
- Suppliers of systems used in handling and distribution of finished tires; and
- Service/support organizations involved in any of the above activities.
Nominations, which should be made online at tire-conferences.com, are due March 11.
The inaugural awards will be presented June 11 during ERJ's Future Tire Conference, which is held in conjunction with The Tire Cologne international trade fair. The trade fair, organized by Koelnmesse G.m.b.H., will be June 9-12 at Messe Cologne in Cologne, Germany.
"Crain is proud to partner with The Tire Cologne exhibition," Brennan Lafferty, vice president and group publisher of Crain Global Polymer Group, said.
"This show is the perfect backdrop for the J2A Awards, which will shine a light on the innovation happening today in the global tire industry."
In addition to the awards, the Future Tire Conference will include a series of presentations, a forum for short-listed projects and a panel discussion on the future of tire manufacturing and supply chain sectors.
