TORONTO — Mufflerman Inc., operating 12 auto-service locations in southwestern Ontario, has acquired Superior Tire & Auto Inc., a franchisor of tire and auto service business active in Ontario.
Superior Tire has 10 locations active throughout the greater Toronto metro area and Barrie, Ontario.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed upon the Jan. 4 announcement.
Mufflerman President Costa Haitas said the combined Mufflerman-Superior Tire enterprise will be one of the largest auto repair, tire and service groups in Ontario.
He said Superior Tire's "long and successful history" and prominent locations will provide a strategic advantage for the combined business to offer even greater quality, service and trust.
In business since 1964, Mufflerman is a portfolio company of Argyle Capital Partners, a Toronto-based private equity firm. The firm acquired London, Ontario-based Mufflerman in March 2021.
Founded in 1942, Superior Tire is considered one of the leading franchisors of retail tire stores and car-care centers in Ontario. It carries most major tire brands and performs a wide range of auto services.
Superior Tire President Frank Bongiovanni said he and his management team are "extremely excited" about the combination of these auto repair and tire businesses.
