IRVINE, Calif. — Midas International, Big O Tires and RNR Tire Express earned high marks among franchisors of auto repair and service programs in Entrepreneur magazine's latest Franchise 500 ranking.
Entrepreneur magazine ranks franchisors using a 150-point scale based on several criteria grouped under five primary categories: costs/fees; support; size and growth; brand strength; and financial strength/stability.
To be eligible for the ranking, a franchisor must have had a minimum of 10 units open and operating as of July 31, 2022, including at least one franchise located in North America, and must be seeking new franchisees in the U.S. or Canada.
Entrepreneur lists 17 companies among the top 500 in the automotive category, which includes automotive tools/equipment, oil-change/preventive maintenance, auto collision repair, auto glass repair/replacement, auto accessories and car washes in addition to tires/tire service and general automotive repair.
Midas, Big O and RNR Tire were the highest rated firms offering tires and tire service, ranked 103rd, 157th and 170th overall. Other firms in the auto repair/service category are AAMCO Transmission & Total Car Care (196th); Christian Brothers Automotive Corp. (223rd) and Tuffy Tire & Auto Service (309th).

There are over 460 company and franchisee-owned Big O active in the U.S., located primarily in the Western and Midwestern states, along with roughly 1,200 franchised, licensed and company-owned Midas stores in the U.S. and Canada.
The Entrepreneur ranking also lists five quick-lube franchise enterprises — Valvoline Instant Oil Change (No. 21 overall); Jiffy Lube (No. 99); Take 5 Oil Change (No. 106); Grease Monkey (No. 182); and SpeeDee Oil Change & Auto Service (No. 415) — and three automotive tools suppliers — Snap-on Tools (No. 20); Matco Tools (No. 31) and Mac Tools (No. 72) — among the automotive companies.
