STOW, Ohio — Mickey Thompson Tires & Wheels is working to bring nationally acclaimed drag-racing competitions to its home state of Ohio.
Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio, recently named Mickey Thompson its "official tire" in a move the tire firm said it hopes will build further awareness of Mickey Thompson's complete line of drag-racing tires.
"It's a big deal for us to be involved with 'America's Racetrack,' especially with it being in our backyard," Jason Moulton, senior motorsports manager, said.
"We are excited for this opportunity to bring our extensive racing experience to the national circuit and increase our involvement with this iconic racetrack."
Summit Motorsports Park, which opened in 1963, specializes in family entertainment and hosts more than 100 events annually, attracting more than 500,000 guests to the facility. It has been named Track Of The Year 20 times, including nine times by the National Hot Rod Association, most recently in 2018, according to Mickey Thompson.
As official tire of the venue, Mickey Thompson will have access to display space for hospitality and racer support in the midway at all park-produced events.
Mickey Thompson Tires is a business unit Cooper Tire & Rubber, which in turn is a subsidiary of Goodyear.
