MONTREAL — Group Michelin has organized a series of digital presentations under its "Movin'On Summit 2020" banner to cover some of the topics originally scheduled for the now-canceled three-day "sustainable mobility challenge" event in Montreal.

The Movin'On Digital Meetings will be held June 3 – 4 and will be available to all interested parties.

"The present crisis should not put a stop to our activities," Group Michelin Chairman Florent Menegaux said. "Quite the reverse, in fact. It is an unprecedented opportunity to highlight the expected shift towards more sustainable mobility.

"By organizing an online grand finale for its Startup Challenge and by supporting young start-ups able to offer new models of sustainable mobility, new business models and opportunities to do things differently, Movin'On is fully in line with the movement."

Movin'On 2020 was supposed to take place June 3-5 in Montreal, but Michelin was forced to cancel the summit in late March, due to the global health crisis.

The Movin'On Summit — dedicated to the concept of sustainable mobility and spurring a move from ambition to action — has been held in Montreal since 2017. Among the speakers scheduled to appear at the 2020 event were John Kerry, former U.S. secretary of state and U.S. senator.

The spotlight for this digital reconnection will be the ongoing durable mobility challenges tackled by Movin'On Communities of Interest, and the Grand Finale of the Movin'On Startup Challenge.

Working hard to advance its co-innovation projects, Movin'On continues to accelerate the development of its working groups (interest communities), which are fully committed to building concrete sustainable mobility solutions.

Online meetings are therefore offered to summit participants on June 3 to report on some of the work in progress and launch new topics. Learn more:

On June 4, the conference will host the Movin'On Startup Challenge, taking place from 8 to 10 a.m., EDT, in an "entertaining" interactive online format.

Organized by the Movin'On teams, the Michelin incubator and the Agorize platform, which specializes in organizing online challenges, the Startup Challenge will be held online with a format that showcases interactivity.

The organizers have invited 10 startups to pitch live to a jury of experts in Movin'On's five categories (preserving resources, safer and more accessible mobility, etc.). Each presentation will last for no more than two minutes and will be followed by one question from the audience and one question from the jury.

The jury and the audience will then be able to vote for their favorite start-up. At the end, the five winners will benefit from tailor-made programs and support (skills sponsorship, incubation, acceleration, coaching, visibility and networking) to develop their innovation. The prizes are the result of the solidarity of Movin'On community members who have rallied to support this responsible ambitious project.
