GREENVILLE, S.C. — Michelin-brand tires won all three tire categories in Car Talk's 2021 Golden Wrench Awards.
Michelin tires were recognized as Best Tire Brand, Best All-Season Tire (Cross Climate 2) and Best High-Performance Tire (Pilot 4 S) awards.
The Golden Wrench award comes from the "Car Talk" brand, an iconic NPR staple radio program that ran nationally from 1987-2012.
The inaugural Golden Wrench awards were based on methodology using a 30-point rating system based on data including: government reporting, consumer reviews, independent third-party evaluations, price and a nationwide survey of more than 800 mechanics.
Car Talk plans to recognizes three other categories of tires in the near future: all-terrain/mud-terrain; winter; and crossover.
"Launched in 2020, the CrossClimate2 has been racking up accolades in its first few months," according to Michelin North America Inc.
"The tire's ability to meet key consumer needs without having to make the compromises other all-season tires make has caught the attention of drivers and automotive media."
"Car Talk is a trusted source of information for people who are passionate about driving," Matthew Cabe, Michelin North America brand director, said.
"I'm proud to see not only Michelin as a brand honored, but also that two of our most significant products were recognized for the value and performance they bring drivers."
