GREENVILLE, S.C. — Michelin Tire North America Inc. is recalled 46 XVS and TRX specialty tires for a missing DOT certification from the sidewalls, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
Without the the certification listed, the tires do not comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.
The affected tires are 28 Michelin XVS, size 185/80R15 93V; 16 Michelin TRX, size 240/55 VR 415 94W; and 2 Michelin TRX, size 240/55 VR 390 89W.
The tires were manufactured between May 1, 2019, and Oct. 9, 2023. According the Michelin, they manufactured abroad and were inadvertently routed to the North American market.
Michelin said the tires are commonly found on vehicles from the 1940s to 1960s, including on the Jaguar E Type, Chevrolet Corvette; Ferrari 250 GTO; Lamborghini Miura; Porsche 911; and Aston Martin.
Michelin will replace the tires or fully reimburse customers as necessary, free of charge.
Letters will be mailed on Nov. 4 to notify owners. Customers also may contact Michelin's customer service at 1-888-971-3801.
Owners who received replacement XVS, XAS, or TRX specialty tires under Recall 22T023 may need to have their tires replaced again.
