GREENVILLE, S.C. — Michelin North America Inc. has licensed Piston Technologies Inc. to make and sell a Michelin-branded wall-mounted air compressor for home use.
The Michelin MBL-GO features an oil-free pump that delivers 130 psi (max) pressure and comes with a built-in 32-foot hose reel. The electric-powered product comes with a an inflation gun, metal and plastic air nozzles and an adapter.
The product is sold on Amazon for $199.99. Michelin said additional products in the air compressor line will be available later in 2022.
Tom Jupena, director of brand licensing for Michelin North America, described the MBL-Go as the "perfect complement" to any garage for inflating tires, toys and sports equipment.
Piston Technologies is a Minette, Ala., producer of air compressors under the Quincy, Chicago Pneumatic and Belaire brand names.
This is the latest in a series of consumer products licensed by Michelin to use the Michelin name and/or Bibendum likeness. Others include:
- a portable mini refrigerator
- a line of automotive belts, tensioners and idlers sold via Amazon.com;
- a line of fishing shoes, with a tread inspired by BFGoodrich tire tread patterns, available through Bass Pro Shops; and
- a line of BFGoodrich-branded floor mats, produced and sold by Horizon Brands of Cosa Mesa, Calif.
