    TOKYO — German car maker Daimler A.G. has selected Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd.'s Advan Sport V107 tire as original equipment fitments for a number of new models marketed under the vehicle maker's Mercedes-AMG brand.

    The vehicles so equipped are the;

    • GLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupe, which was launched in Europe in November 2019;
    • GLE 63 4MATIC+ and GLE 63 4MATIC+ Coupe, which were launched in Europe in March 2020; and
    • GLA 35 4MATIC and GLA 45 4MATIC+ and GLA 45 S 4MATIC+ models, launched in June.

    The specific fitments are:

    • GLE 63 — 285/40ZR22 110Y (front) and 325/35ZR22 114Y (rear) or 275/50ZR20 113Y front and rear, depending on trim level; and
    • GLA 35 — 235/50ZR19 99Y or 21-inch 255/35ZR21 98Y.

    Yokohama markets the Advan Sport V107 as a "high-performance tire developed primarily for use on high-power premium cars." It succeeds the Advan Sport V105 and improves upon "the already excellent driving performance" of its predecessor, according to Yokohama.

    The tires were developed jointly with Mercedes-AMG and bear the car maker's MO1 mark of approval on the tire sidewall.

    Under its medium-term management plan, Grand Design 2020, Yokohama has set itself a "core goal" of expanding its presence in the premium tire markets. One of the specific strategies for achieving the goal is the company's "premium car tire strategy," which aims to increase use of Yokohama tires as OE on premium cars in Japan and globally.
