DANVERS, Mass. — Maxam Tire North America Inc. will showcase its first 63-inch tire at the MINExpo 2021, set for Sept. 13-15 in Las Vegas.
The tire — the 53/80R63 MS453 — has undergone extensive testing in Nevada, as well as other global locations, Maxam said. It features an aggressive tread design and reinforced sidewall and is manufactured using a proprietary, two-stage method that involves improved placement of the belt and tread package on the casing.
Maxam, a subsidiary of China's Sailun Tire Group, debuted the tire last fall as a complement to 57-inch versions of the MS open-pit tire line. The tires are manufactured at Sailun Group's radial OTR tire plant in China,
The release of the 63-inch program completes the series of rigid haul truck tires to the market.
"Our commitment to the 63-inch, which is an integral part of the mining industry's future, defines our dedication to being a serious global business partner for the industry," Matt Johnson, vice president of Maxam Mining Group, said.
The company also will display several mining support equipment tires, including the MS405, which features a deep E4/L4 lug pattern and was recently OEM approved by CAT.
The tire was designed to minimize vibration at higher cycle speeds, providing loaders, graders, and earthmovers the lowest cost-per-hour for the industry, Maxam said.
"Our OEM-approved products show how Maxam continues to bring performance-driven solutions to customers globally," Troy Kline, President of Maxam North America, said.
"Our objective is to provide customers with products that increase their productivity and to focus on providing the best customer experience. We are not just a tire company; we're a true business solutions provider."
This is the second 63-inch OTR radial Maxam has launched for North American customers.
