DANVERS, Mass. — Maxam Tire North America Inc. is offering for sale a 63-inch mining tire, the MS453, developed for use in open-pit mines.

The new model, in size 53/80R63, complements Maxam's 57-inch MS403 open-pit tire offering, which is being rebadged MS440. It's available in sizes 37.00R57 and 46/90R57.

Manufactured at parent Sailun Group's radial OTR tire plant in China, the MS453 is engineered as a long-lasting solution for mining-haul trucks through the use of an "enhanced" casing construction with "advanced" compounding technology.

The MS453 features an "aggressive" tread design designed for extended tire life in demanding mining applications, Maxam said, as well as reinforced sidewalls and enhanced tread belts and bead construction. The MS453 features a tread depth of 138/32nds inch and a heat-resistant undertread to deliver longer tire life and improve its tons/mph performance, Maxam said.

The launch of the MS453 coincides with a new naming structure Maxam is implementing in its large mining series to help broaden its specialty tire range. The realignment streamlines the ordering process and program development as Maxam expands its haulage portfolio, the company said.

While the 57-inch sizes of the MS403 product range are being rebranded MS440, other sizes within the MS403 pattern are unchanged, Maxam said.
