MILLWOOD, N.Y. — Mavis Tire Express Services Corp. and Town Fair Tire Centers Inc. of East Haven, Conn., have agreed to combine their operations under a common umbrella, creating a retail dealership with nearly 900 locations throughout New England, the Northeast and the South.

By combining their operations, Town Fair and Mavis "will realize a combined scale that better positions each of us to meet industry challenges and thrive in an ever-changing and competitive landscape," Mavis Co-CEO David Sorbaro said.

"We are excited to bring together the talented teams of both companies and look forward to continuing to provide best-in-class service to all of our customers."

The parties did not disclose financial or ownership details of the business transaction.

Town Fair, under top executives Neil and Mike Mellen, will continue to manage all 98 Town Fair locations throughout New England under the Town Fair brand and business model, the companies said.

Mavis, led by David and Stephen Sorbaro and their management team, will continue managing the Mavis brand and model.

Town Fair will remain headquartered in East Haven, and Mavis will remain headquartered in Millwood.

With 761 company-operated retail stores, Mavis is considered the fourth-largest independent tire dealer/auto service provider in the U.S. With 99 stores, Town Fair is the 15th largest.

Mavis also oversees nearly 300 franchised Express Oil Change/Tire Engineers outlets throughout the South/Sun Belt.

"Since their founding," Mr. Mellen said, "Town Fair and Mavis have solidified their positions as leading tire dealers based on our deep commitment to providing complete customer satisfaction and delivering the highest quality service. Both companies share these values, which is why we are confident we are the right partners going forward."
