Love's moves Indiana retread plant to larger site nearby

MOORESVILLE, Ind. — Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores has relocated a retread plant from Plainfield, Ind. to a larger facility in Mooresville, which also includes a distribution center.

The plant was relocated to a purpose-built, 200,000-sq.-ft. warehouse facility to improve service to customers, Love's said.

The Plainfield plant was one of four Oliver Rubber-system plants Love's opened in 2016. Since then it has opened two others, in Laredo, Texas, and Milan, Tenn.

Love's estimated daily capacity of 2,400 retreads places it among the nation's 12 largest retreaders. The other plants are in Forest Park, Ga.; Grand Prairie, Texas; and Kingman, Ariz.

Love's said it "is in the process of further expanding its retread plant and distribution center capacity to increase the company's commitment to ensuring customer success now and into the future." The company did not elaborate on its plans.

"The new facility in Mooresville is double the size of our previous plant and allows us to provide greater coverage to our valuable customers," Steve Phillips, director of tire sales and plant operations for Love's, said.

"This location is close to several interstates and is a great location to provide the best service, value and products that help get our customers back on the road quickly and safely."

Mooresville is a town of about 9,500 located about 25 miles southwest of Indianapolis, with nearby access to I-70. It's about seven miles from Plainfield. The new facility created about 50 additional jobs.

Love's offers what it calls the industry's "most extensive" warranty on its retreads, which are available at 410-plus Love's Truck Care and Speedco locations throughout the U.S. The warranty covers the cost of the product, casing and any repairs for the full life of the retread.

Love's Travel Stops is on track to open as many as 50 travel stops in 2021, including at least 30 with Love's Truck Care or Speedco preventive maintenance and tire services on site. This expansion is on top of 38 truck-servicing plazas Love's opened in 2020.
