OKLAHOMA CITY — Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores opened travel stops in in Edon, Ohio, and St. Clair, Mich., in recent weeks, expanding its network of stores to 500 in 41 states.
Both locations — on Ohio State Route 49 and Interstate 94, respectively — have a Speedco tire and vehicle service facility on site, are open 24/7 and have over 100 truck parking spots.
To mark the openings, Love's is donating $2,000 to the Four County Career Center in Edon and $2,000 to the St. Clair County Regional Educational Service Agency in St. Clair.
Tom Love, founder and executive chairman of Love's Travel Stops, called the opening of the 500th travel stop a "huge milestone" for the Oklahoma City-based company, which opened its first store in 1964.
Love's Travel Stops has opened 40 Travel Stops so far this year — including more than 30 that will have a Love's Truck Tire Care or Speedco unit on site — along with its fifth Oliver Rubber-system retread plant, in Laredo, Texas.
The company also disclosed plans to set up a tire retread and distribution facility in Milan, Tenn.
Love's Travel Stops acquired the Speedco business in November 2017 from Bridgestone Americas Inc. The company offers Aeolus, BFGoodrich, Bridgestone, Dayton, Goodyear, Kelly, Michelin and Yokohama tire brands — along with Love's own retread line — at its Speedco locations.
