LAS VEGAS — Kenda Tire USA Inc. gave visitors to the SEMA Show in November the first look at the new Kenda Vezda UHP A/S2, the next-generation ultra-high performance tire designed to meet the growing demand for all-season tires for the CUV market.
The new tire will replace the Vezda UHP A/S that has been on the market for eight years. Brandon Stotsenburg, vice president, automotive division, said the A/S2 evolves the line to meet shifting consumer demand.
"The market has all started shifting up from cars into CUVs, small SUVs and some of those bigger vehicles. So, we redesigned how the tire works."
Engineered for wet, dry and light-snow conditions, the A/S2 is designed for a quiet, comfortable ride, according to the company.
The tread compound is formulated for "enhanced handling and powerful braking, while optimized tread stiffness extends tread life."
The tire will be available for order in spring 2025 (reaching the market next summer) in a full line of popular sizes covering a wide range of sedans, CUVs and SUVs. The sizes will cover 17- to 21-inch rim diameters, in series 35, 40, 45 and 50, with speed ratings of W and Y.
The tire comes with a 50,000-mile treadwear warranty.
The Vezda UHP A/S2's tread design features sipes for snow handling and four main grooves to channel water for wet performance. The computer-optimized footprint, as well as pitch sequence and length, provide uniform wear throughout the length of the tire life.
The outside of the tire is designed for dry handling and stability, while the inside is optimized for rain and snow performance, Kenda said.
