VERNON, British Columbia — Kal Tire has promoted former Les Schwab Tire Centers executive Corey Parks to president, succeeding Robert Foord, who is transitioning to the role of executive vice-chair after 15 years as president.
Parks brings more than 22 years of experience in successive leadership positions with Les Schwab Tire Centers, most recently in the roles of chief administrative officer, executive vice president, secretary and general counsel, Kal Tire said.
He has been with Kal Tire for the past six months as a member of the senior management team. During that time, he has toured much of Kal Tire's nationwide store network and international mining operations.
In a statement, Kal Tire said Parks' "hands-on operating experience … and his long-term commitment to working closely with a dynamic family ownership group" serve as a "solid foundation" for him to be the dealership's next president.
"Corey is an exceptional leader, communicator and relationship builder — and he's someone who strongly aligns with the values and culture of Kal Tire," Foord said, adding that Kal Tire — considered one of North America's largest independent tire dealerships with 200-plus retail/commercial outlets in Canada, a leading retread business and an international mining service business — will remain a private, family-owned business.
"Our family remains as committed as ever to the long-term success of the company, and we are excited for him to join the team."
Parks calls Kal Tire a company he's "respected deeply throughout my career, so I'm humbled and honored by the opportunity to build on the legacy of Robert Foord."
Parks and his wife Michelle have settled in Vernon, where Kal Tire is based.
"As we look to the future, I hope to offer not just continuity but also new opportunities for team members around the world to excel in their roles and exceed every customer's expectations—even, and especially, as our industry evolves."
Prior to joining Les Schwab in 2001, Parks worked at law firms in Oregon for several years.
Foord, son of Kal Tire founder T.J. Foord, has worked for the dealership for 37 years, including the past 15 as president.
Other members of senior management include Ken Chaun, senior vice president, stores; Dan Allan, senior vice president, Mining Tire Group; Mike Kreuger, chief financial officer; and Cam Johnston, senior vice president, wholesale and supply.
