MINNEAPOLIS — Franchise Times magazine has identified 10 automotive service franchisors among its annual Top 400 listing, which recognizes the largest franchise organizations in the U.S. by global systemwide sales.
The top automotive-service franchise groups, according to the Minneapolis publishing group, are Jiffy Lube, Midas International and Valvoline Instant Oil Change, with systemwide sales of $1.82 billion, $1.48 billion and $1.43 billion, respectively.
The publication's list is based on a five-month research process that takes into account companies' voluntary reports and publicly available data, including the franchises' most recent franchise disclosure documents and Securities and Exchange Commission filings.
To qualify, a company must be a legal U.S. franchise, either based in the U.S. or having at least 10% of franchised points of sale in the U.S. Franchisees must own at least 15% of a company's total units.
TBC Corp. scored two spots on the list: Midas at No. 66 and Big O Tires at No. 85.
Taken as a group, the 10 auto-service programs represent nearly $7.8 billion in sales revenue, according to the magazine's data.

Jim Bull, vice president and general manager of TBC Corp.'s Big O Tires L.L.C. subsidiary, said Big O's ranking "truly displays Big O's strength, stability and franchise spirit as the 'Team You Trust.'

Big O's ranking of 85th is up 18 spots from the 2020 list.
