DETROIT — Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has selected a 32-inch version of the Firestone Destination M/T2 tire as the exclusive OE fitment on the 2020 Jeep Wrangler Willys, a special edition model geared to off-roading.
The Jeep Wrangler Willys edition is equipped with a limited-slip rear differential, Rubicon rock rails and shocks and heavy-duty brakes to maximize its off-roading capabilities and appeal.
These features, together with Jeep's Command-Trac 4x4 part-time, two-speed transfer case with a 2.72:1 low-range gear ratio, pair up with the traction-optimized Destination M/T2 tires to bolster the vehicle's off-road capability.
The OE size, LT255/75R17 mounted on black aluminum wheels, has an outside diameter of 32 inches, a fact feataured prominently in Jeep's promotional literature for this model.
Featuring an aggressive tread design and specially designed sidewall construction, the Firestone Destination M/T2 tire is built for extreme off-road traction and performance, according to Bridgestone Americas Inc.
"The Destination M/T2 is the ultimate tire for adventure-seekers looking to get the most performance out of their vehicle," Shannon Quinn, president, original equipment tires, U.S. and Canada, Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations, said.
"The rugged appearance and design of the tire for this special edition Jeep Wrangler will allow drivers to venture across a wide range of intense conditions and have an incredible off-road driving experience."
Engineered to perform in the most demanding off-road conditions, the Destination M/T2 tire features mud and stone rejectors to keep the tire's tread clear of debris for increased traction, while an advanced sidewall construction offers resistance to chips and tears.
Additionally, the Firestone Destination M/T2 has biting edges for better grip on slick, wet surfaces and in snowy conditions.
The special edition Jeep Wrangler Willys is available in showrooms now. Suggested retail prices start at $33,990 for the two-door model and $37,490 for the four-door version, according to FCA.
This is the second OE fitment for Bridgestone in recent months on special-edition Jeep models. Earlier Jeep disclosed a pair of Bridgestone Dueler fitments on the 2020 Jeep Gladiator midsize pickup truck.
