Import Vehicle Community honors Akebono, Ateq, ContiTech

LAS VEGAS — Akebono Brake Corp., ATEQ TPMS Tools and Continental/ContiTech are among those named winners of the Import Vehicle Community's 2019 Product and Marketing Awards.

The categories and winners were:

• Best Overall Import Aftermarket Product or Product Line: Akebono Brake Corp.;
• Best Performance Product or Accessory: ATEQ TPMS Tools & Solutions;
• Best New Tool for Repairs: Redline Detection;
• Best Problem Solver: Spectra Premium Industries Inc.;
• Best Packaging of a Product: Continental/ContiTech;
• Best Merchandising/Advertising of a Product: Continental/ContiTech;
• Best Print or Electronic Catalog of a Product Line: Standard Motor Products Inc.;
• Best Electronic Media: Dayco Products L.L.C.; and
• Best Functional Fluid: CRP Industries Inc.

The Import Vehicle Community presented the awards during the Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) in Las Vegas Nov. 5.

Farmington Hills, Mich.-based Akebono was honored for its Akebono Euro Ultra-Premium Ceramic Disc Brake Pad; 2019 marks the fourth time the Akebono Euro line has been recognized as the best overall aftermarket part for import vehicles, Akebono said.

"This award puts an exclamation point on the progress and achievements the team has made in 2019," according to Edward Gerhardt, marketing and data service manager, Akebono Brake Corp., who noted his comapny has added nearly 30 parts to the line in the last 12 months.

Livonia, Mich.-based ATEQ was honored for its TPMS Tools Sync-ID Technology, which is designed to standardize the way TPMS sensor information is transmitted to the vehicle's ECU, using a unique, OE-compliant OBD relearn procedure for all equipped light-vehicles.

Fairlawn, Ohio-based ContiTech North America was honored twice for its Clear Contact windshield wipers.
