PHILADELPHIA — Icahn Automotive Group L.L.C. has opened four Pep Boys Service & Tire Centers in key metro areas in California, Georgia and New York, expanding the network of Pep Boys outlets to 969 in 36 states and Puerto Rico.
The new locations are in Lawndale and Rocklin, Calif., LaGrange, Ga., and Astoria, N.Y., serving the metro centers of Los Angeles, Sacramento, Atlanta and New York City, respectively, Icahn Automotive said.
The locations were selected for their proximity to both individual and fleet customers that need convenient, local shops for service to reduce the time they're without their vehicles, the company said.
Icahn/Pep Boys did not disclose information about the stores' size, bay count or employees, nor say what it spent to open, buy and/or convert the stores to Pep Boys signage.
The Rocklin store is a greenfield construction, while the Astoria, Lawndale and LaGrange locations are conversions of acquired properties; Astoria previously was Runway Tire; Lawndale was Purrfect Auto Service; and LaGrange was a Meineke Car Care Center.
"The demand for quality service is high, but so is the demand for convenience, and Pep Boys is a one-stop shop that can provide both for our customers," Brian Kaner, CEO-Service, said.
"As automotive technology continues to evolve at a rapid rate, investments to expand our capabilities and our network, especially in densely populated areas, will enable us to provide better service to more customers. At the same time, it is the goal of every one of our shops to get to know their neighbors and become a trusted member of their local community."
The company is marking each opening locally with offers, events and other opportunities for customers to meet the new team and experience the updated service bays equipped with the latest technology.
