ST. LOUIS — Hunter Engineering Co. has launched the TCX53Pro tire changer that can handle large-diameter tires for performance vehicles and electric vehicles (EVs).
The table-top changer combines Hunter's TCXH chassis with its exclusive hybrid leverless head. The 53Pro's familiar swing-arm format includes a locking lower disc and dual upper press rollers, and it can handle advanced tire and wheel assemblies, such as 19.5-inch rims and EV fitments, according to the company.
The tilting lip of the hybrid leverless tool head keeps the bead in position during demount, while the rounded profile helps reduce the risk of tire damage. The polymer winged head doesn't require protective inserts, and the wing feature keeps beads in position during mount, according to Hunter.
The locking lower arm is designed to ease demount of heavy, stiff or wide tires and the upper roller can lock or freewheel. The 53Pro has a clamping range of 10 to 28 inches and includes a PowerOut bead breaker and 220V two-speed rotation.
"The new TCX53Pro is a unique combination of premium features in a time-tested, familiar format," said Jim Hudson, Hunter product manager for tire changers. "The hybrid head and lower locking disc make it much easier and safer to change tough tires on a simple, rugged swing-arm tire changer."
