IRWINDALE, Calif. — Importer/wholesaler Horizon Tire Inc. has launched an all-season, ultra-high-performance tire, the Supermax UHP-1.

Nine sizes are available now for the value-priced UHP product, with nine more to follow, covering rim diameters of 17 to 20 inches as well as 22 and 24 inches.

The tires come with a speed rating of W. Pricing information was not disclosed.

According to Horizon, the tires have an asymmetrical tread design and are formulated with a special silica compound to provide maximum control at high speed under both wet and dry conditions.

The value-priced tires will be targeted for the "everyday driving mass audience that enjoys driving performance year round without hurting their wallets," the company said.

"The low cost structure offers dealer profit opportunity, especially with today's impact of the COVID-19 environment," Horizon said.

In mid-April, Horizon bolstered its Supermax HT/RT (highway terrain/rugged terrain) lines with the addition of more than 30 sizes, including nine light-truck sizes, covering 16- to 18-inch rim diameters, and 25 SUV/CUV sizes, covering 16- to 20-inch rim diameters.

Horizon did not identify the tire's country of origin or manufacturer.

Horizon also added the Supermax HT and RT lines earlier this year to its burgeoning consumer tire portfolio.

Supermax is Horizon Tire's proprietary brand. The Irwindale-based company also handles the Antares, Grenlander, Rydanz and Sotera brands.
