FINDLAY, Ohio — American Tire Distributor's (ATD) Hercules Tires brand is adding a regional drive tire, the HDO, to the Strong Guard premium truck tire family.
The Strong Guard HDO regional drive tire is an open-shoulder tire for medium trucks that features new compounds and technologies to deliver traction and extended mileage
According to Hercules, the Gen H tread compound and sidewall design has a curb guard for high scrub applications along with angled grooves on the shoulder lugs to repel stones from the base of the tread.
The Gen-H tread compound delivers increased wet traction and stable handling, Hercules said.
The open shoulder tread design promotes self-cleaning and enhances traction in all road conditions.
The tire's 3D sipes guard against irregular wear, Hercules said, by interlocking the tread blocks to improve rigidity and reduce deformation.
The HDO's 12% wider tread provides 11% more surface area than previous generation tires, improving vehicle stability and mileage.
Marshall Gillespie, manager commercial and specialty products at Hercules, said the tire was designed based on feedback from dealers and owner operators.
"The performance and dependability of this open shoulder drive tire will exceed the demanding expectations our customers have trusted Hercules to meet since 1952, at an unmatched value," he said.
The Strong Guard HDO features eight sizes, covering 19.5- to 24.5-inch rim diameter fitments
Strong Guard truck tires carry a seven-year limited protection policy including free tire replacement during the first 50% of usable tread life under workmanship and materials coverage.
In addition, Strong Guard medium truck tires carry a casing allowance for up to three retreads.
