The Dynapro HT2 in an update of the HT and is designed for highway comfort. It carries a 70,000-mile treadwear warranty.
Hankook said, compared to the HT, tire's profile, pattern and compound applications resulted in a 13% increase in mileage.
"The HT customer is primarily staying on the road, maybe more of a two-wheel drive application, somebody that wants to smoother quieter ride and good wet-weather traction, but not really someone who is going to spend a lot of time off-road," Williams said.
The tire's siping, groove design,and hydrophilic compound have added improvements regarding snow acceleration (up 6%), snow handing (up 7%), and snow braking (up 9%) in addition to wet handing (up 7%) and wet braking (up 6%) compared to the HT.
The HT2 replaces the HT that has been on the market since 2012. Williams said conditions were just right to update to product.
"We have some new technology that's coming out, not only with the way that we designed the tire but also with we're producing the tires as well. We're continuing to update our equipment and our employees with new technologies that we have. And the timing was right for this market," he said.
The Dynapro HT2 is available in 55 sizes from 15- to 22-inch rim diameters. Hankook said the tire will be available for order and delivery in February.
The additions now make six products in the Dynapro lineup.
"So, whether you have a premium SUV, or if you want to go get dirty and muddy in the backwoods, we have a Dynapro available for you," Nasca said.
