BADALGAMA, Sri Lanka — Specialty tire maker Global Rubber Industries (Pvt.) Ltd. (GRI) is releasing a special material handling solid tire, the Peakmaster Snow, to operate indoors and outdoors in snowy terrain.

GRI said the product provides outstanding performance in low temperatures, and its special compound was tested in sub-zero conditions and specific regions over a complete season.

Among the special features of the tire are a wider tread width, which improves stability, traction and wet handling; deep lugs, which provide traction in thick snow; and center lugs that have been designed to provide a stronger grip and prevent slipping.

The center grooves create a smooth path for snow flow and better self-cleaning, GRI said, while the parallel shallow grooves prevent snow clogs and the middle grooves are designed for an excellent grip on snow.

Prabhash Subasinghe, managing director of GRI said the company listed to customers' needs in developing this tire.

"We are dedicated to continuous research and development together with an innovation mindset using the latest theories in tire technology," he said, "... while ensuring sustainability of our solutions for generations to come."

Baldalgama-based GRI produces material handling solid tires, radial agriculture tires and construction tires, with operations in nine countries and a business presence in more than 50 countries.
