AKRON — Goodyear has unveiled a port handler tire, the EV-4M, that the tire maker said provides improved treadwear to help increase efficiency, while at the same time promoting driver comfort.
It is one of nine radial tires in the Goodyear port handler portfolio.
The EV-4M features an updated radial construction that offers a softer ride, improved treadwear and enhanced durability, according to Goodyear.
Goodyear said the tread compounds, coupled with a tread depth that meets the industry rating IND-4, allows the EV-4M to operate long operating hours while helping to reduce heat generation, boosting its wear resistance.
The EV-4M Port Handler is available in the 450/95R25 size and two load/speed ratings: 204A5 for straddle carrier use and 200A5 for industrial use.
The EV-4M offers a TKPH/TMPH (ton-kilometer-per-hour/ton-miles-per-hour) rating that Goodyear said supports higher average operating speed and long-distance travel.
The tire offers enhanced traction and braking power for optimal stability and controllability of port equipment in all weather conditions. The EV-4M features large circumferential grooves with lateral blading, Goodyear said, enhancing performance in wet operating conditions.
The EV-4M's robust casing construction includes a large, high strength bead bundle, an enhanced wedge and sidewall inserts that provide stability when the port handler is under high load conditions.
Tracy Maclear, OTR marketing & business development manager for Goodyear EMEA, said the tire "is a great update to Goodyear's Total Mobility package of trusted products, reliable services and tire management solutions. The Total Mobility package helps operators minimize their tires' cost per hour and enhance the productivity and efficiency of the operation."
