AKRON — Goodyear is voluntarily recalling 82 Goodyear G622 RSD tires in size 225/70R19.5 LRG.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the tires contain a tire identification number (TIN) that is missing the 4-digit week and year code mark.
With that information missing, the tires do not comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 574, "Tire Identification & Recordkeeping."
The NHTSA said that missing TIN information can make it difficult for consumers to identify the tire in the event of a recall, increasing the risk of driving with a recalled tire that could result in a crash.
The tires were manufactured during the week of Dec. 10, 2023 (DOT week code 5023). Only these specific tires with non-compliant TINs are part of the recall, Goodyear said.
Dealers will replace the tires, free of charge.
Letters are to be mailed to owners by June 1. Owners can contact Goodyear customer service at (800) 592-3267.
