AKRON — Goodyear opened Goodyear Auto Service retail stores in Dayton, Ohio, and Beckley, W.Va., in recent weeks, part of the company's ongoing review of its retail business strategy.
The Dayton store, the first Goodyear Auto Center in that southwest Ohio city, opened April 21 with representatives of the Dayton Chamber of Commerce on hand. The Beckley store opened March 31.
Goodyear said it chose Dayton and Beckley because it is always evaluating potential markets to enter and saw great potential in both communities.
"We pride ourselves on providing an exceptional customer experience with convenient automotive care and tire-buying services," Fred Thomas, vice president and general manager, Goodyear Retail, said.
The Dayton store is located in a building that previously housed a Big O Tires outlet, according to available real-estate records.
The next closest Goodyear Auto Center is in West Chester, Ohio, 28 miles south of the Dayton store. In all, Goodyear has 22 company-owned retail stores in Ohio, including three in the Cincinnati-Dayton area.
Goodyear District Manager Logan Miller cut the ribbon on the new store along with members of the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce.
The new store in Beckley, located in a building formerly occupied by the Beckley Fire Department, spans 8,000 square feet and has eight service bays. It's the fourth Goodyear Auto Center in the Mountaineer State.
Beckley is a city of about 16,500 residents located in southern Western Virginia.
Goodyear operates roughly 575 company-owned retail stores in the U.S. under the Goodyear Auto Service and Just Tires brands, according to its fiscal 2021 10K filing.
