DEARBORN, Mich. — Ford Motor Co. recently honored Cheng Shin Rubber Ind. Co. Ltd. and Goodyear as top-performing global suppliers at the 22nd annual Ford World Excellence Awards.
Taiwan's Cheng Shin Rubber — d.b.a. Maxxis International — was recognized as as a Sustainability Supplier of the Year winner and Goodyear earned a Special Recognition award for the company's performance in the area of delivery. The awards were bestowed at the 22nd annual Ford World Excellence Awards held Nov. 17 virtually.
Ford's World Excellence Awards recognize companies that exceed expectations and achieve the highest levels of excellence in quality, cost, performance and delivery, Ford said. Awards span multiple categories, including sustainability, winning portfolio, propulsion choices, autonomous technology, fitness, special recognition and diversity.
Cheng Shin/Maxxis' award is in recognition for actions that improve the business environment, Ford said.
"Minimizing our impact on the environment is a top priority at Maxxis, and we work hard to ensure that all Maxxis tires are produced sustainably," Andy Lee, vice president of operations for Maxxis North America, said. "We appreciate Ford's support in working with us to make significant improvements in 2019."
This is Maxxis' second OE quality award this year. Earlier Subaru of Indiana Automotive honored Maxxis with its Superior Excellent Performance Award for consistently meeting targets for safety, quality, cost and delivery.
Ford cited Goodyear's "exemplary leadership" in providing technical and commercial solutions to unique problems and for delivering "unprecedented assistance" on several high-performance vehicle fitments.
Chris Magana, Goodyear's vice president and general manager, OE North America, called the award a "testament to our dedicated associates who have gone above and beyond to exceed our customers' expectations."
This is the second consecutive year Goodyear has been recognized by Ford as achieving the highest levels of global excellence as a supplier.
