AKRON — Goodyear has launched a subscription-based service for commercial fleets to manage and maintain tires throughout the life of the product.
In an announcement on June 24, Goodyear described the service, built from the company's Total Mobility program, as "the worry-free, tires-as-a-service offering that combines the company's premium tires, proven predictive insights and industry-leading service footprint in one, subscription-based solution."
The pay-per-mileage subscription service is available for commercial and last-mile delivery fleets in the U.S. and Europe, Goodyear said.
Termed "tires-as-a-service," Goodyear said the aim of the service is save time and improve total costs of fleet owners by increasing up-time, reducing breakdown events and decreasing fuel consumption.
In pilot programs, Goodyear said the service solution helped reduce total cost of ownership, contributing to a nearly 80% reduction in emergency vehicle breakdown events. In one instance, Goodyear said a U.S. last-mile delivery fleet saw a 100% reduction in customer-owned inventory.
In Europe, Goodyear's new subscription helped a commercial fleet realize reach a 50% reduction in emergency breakdown events and up to 4% reduction in fuel consumption compared to the prior year.

Key features of the program includes:
• Goodyear tires equipped with tire intelligence technology to generate proactive insights;
• Continuous, 24/7 tire monitoring and data collection from every tire;
• Proactive alert management and service coordination;
• Halo Tire Inflator, a self-powered automatic tire inflation system installed on applicable wheel ends; and
• Access to Goodyear's service network to dispatch technicians whenever needed.
