AKRON — Goodyear is expanding its Armor Max heavy-duty truck tire lineup with the addition of the Armor Max Extreme Service Drive (ESD) tire.
The tire is designed for heavy-duty construction, logging, oil and mining field work with a tread compound that resists cuts, chips and tears and offers durability. It's designed to handle tough jobs in extreme environments" and is the tire makers "best commercial mixed service drive tire for durability and traction in severe applications," Goodyear said.
The Armor Max ESD is available in 11R22.5 H and 11R24.5 H sizes for the premium mixed-service segment.

"The new Armor Max ESD delivers performance and durability that fleets need to help optimize productivity in these severe applications."
Goodyear said the tire features include:
- A 32/32nds-inch tread design that helps minimize mud and snow buildup for enhanced off-road traction;
- Optimized tread geometry that improves resistance to stone holding;
- Enhanced under-tread that offers added protection against stone drilling and improves casing durability;and
- An innovative sidewall design that allows snow chains to be placed above tread blocks, while helping to minimize slippage for enhanced performance.
