AKRON — Goodyear has struck a deal with wheel-hub producer Consolidated Metco Inc. to develop a digital analytics solution platform that will provide trucking fleets with "holistic insights" on their tire and wheel-end performance.
The goal of this strategic cooperation, Goodyear said, is to allow fleets to monitor their vehicles remotely in real time, automate insights and make more-informed maintenance decisions to improve vehicle safety and maximize efficiency and uptime.
The companies will bring their respective resources in this field — Goodyear's suite of tire management solutions and ConMet's PreSet Plus SmartHub system — to the cooperative venture, Goodyear said.
"ConMet and Goodyear are both committed to using the power of connectivity and sensor technology to help commercial vehicles perform more efficiently," Beto Dantas, chief technology innovation office at ConMet said.
"This valuable, combined information will help extend tire longevity, maximize performance, keep vehicles on the road and reduce fleets' unscheduled downtime."
Johnny McIntosh, director, integrated solutions and tire management at Goodyear, added: "As two leaders in connected mobility, we will continue to work together to innovate and deliver new features and capabilities to our fleet customers into the future."
Vancouver, Wash.-based ConMet describes itself as a global manufacturer of wheel hubs, structural plastic and aluminum-casting components for the commercial vehicle industry.
