HANOVER, Germany — Hankook Tire & Technology Co., Ltd., Kumho Tire Co., Nexen Tire Corp. and Shandong Haohua Tire Co. Ltd. have won Red Dot Design Awards for their new tires in the product design category.
The annual Red Dot Award is an international design competition, hosted by Germany's International Forum in Hanover, which selects winners in Product Design, Brands & Communication Design, and Design Concept by evaluating factors such as the industrial products' design, quality, function and eco-friendliness.
Among the 57 winners in the product design category are:
- Hankook's e-Smart City AU56 tire for electric buses, designed to offer enhanced mileage with tread block technology and which offers improved grip and prolonged tread life;
- Hankook's iON GT tire made largely from recycled and renewable materials and designed for use on all-electric cars and SUVs;
- Kumho's Wintercraft WP52 EV winter tire;
- Nexen's N'Fera Sport S high-performance premium tire designed for high-speed driving. The use of left and right multi-treads helps improve high-speed durability and braking performance while also providing stable high-speed handling;
- Shandong Haohua's Lanvigator Ice Spider 2 studded tire that increased the number of studs and implemented intelligent arrangement techniques to provide enhanced traction and braking power. The tire also features 3D small groove design and winding tread block shapes to interlock with snow for stable driving.
- In addition Brembo S.p.A. won Red Dot Best of the Best honors for its GP4-MotoGP brake calipers that feature an oblique pad slide to allow greater braking power with the same amount of force applied to the lever. The calipers also feature ventilation fins on the outer body and new racing pistons to improve thermal exchange, contributing to its cooling ability.
- Thinkcar Tech Co. Ltd. won recognition for its ThinkDiag diagnostic tool.
